Dr. Salam Abdullah is a seasoned lawyer specializing in business law, commercial law, and European and international law. With a dual legal background in Iraq and France, he has been a member of the Iraqi Bar since 1991 and the Paris Bar since 1996.

He has advised major international companies in sectors such as oil, cement, telecommunications, construction, and distribution. As a recognized expert, he has also provided legal opinions to international law firms on matters related to arbitration, enforcement of foreign judgments, and commercial and civil law.

A Doctor of International Law from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas (2006, with high honors), Dr. Salam Abdullah also taught in Canada, in both of the country’s official languages, at Saint Thomas University and the University of Moncton (2010-2012).

• 1996 – 2003: Practiced law in France, appearing before French courts and tribunals in the areas of commercial law, labor law, and personal law. He provided legal counsel to Parisian clients and the Iraqi community in France, becoming one of the first lawyers from this community to offer trusted legal assistance.
• 2003: Established an international law office in Baghdad in partnership with one of the major international law firms, fulfilling a long-standing ambition nurtured during his law studies at the University of Baghdad.
• 2006: Relocated his office to Sulaimaniyah, his hometown, to practice law in a more serene environment while continuing to serve his international clientele through a strong network of trusted local lawyers.

• Authoring a monograph on Iraqi labor law, published in 2011 by Wolters Kluwer, Netherlands.

• Contributing in establishing the content for Business Laws of Iraq with Thomson Reuters MENA, (WESTLAW Middle East), where he was invited to write the introduction to this important collection.

• Delivering lectures on Iraqi law to major investors in many European countries.
• Publishing over a dozen articles in specialized legal journals in the United States and the United Kingdom.
